Small-town gossip can be murder—especially when a ruthless blackmailer is involved. If you enjoyed Waiting for Armando, you’re sure to like this sequel. Set entirely in historic Old Wethersfield, Connecticut, Murder on Old Main Street features the same smart, sassy heroines who abandoned their law firm jobs in Armando to launch their own real estate business. As the annual Autumn Festival gets under way, Old Wethersfield is in an uproar over a proposed smoking ban throughout the historic district. Then a vicious murderer strikes. It’s truly a case of “speak no evil” as amateur sleuths Kate Lawrence and Margo Farnsworth race to discover the truth before a local business owner is unjustly convicted of murder, or even more unthinkably, Kate’s daughter Emma falls under suspicion. In the background, Kate’s longtime romance hits the rocky shoals of culture shock, Margo is caught up in an unlikely romance of her own, and Emma is intrigued by a man in uniform. When Kate is forced off the road by a sinister Trans Am, she knows that she has been warned. Can she identify the murderer in time, or will someone’s indiscretion make her the next Murder on Old Main Street?

Murder on Old Main Street by Judith K. Ivie is a light and entertaining cosy mystery which I quite enjoyed. I didn’t pick the killer at all – I always like it when I’m stumped! Great characters, a lovely setting in a historic old town in Connecticut; the descriptions of the stately old homes was well done. Murder on Old Main Street is one I’ve had on my TBR since 2012! Recommended.

Murder on Old Main Street Kate Lawrence Mysteries Book 2 edition by Judith Ivie Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This is part of a wonderfully, entertaining series. The three main characters are all friends, who start their own real estate business after leaving their jobs at a law office. All the books in the series are great reading.
I'm not sure if I read this book in order but it was a pretty decent murder mystery book. I felt the ending was a little rushed and the "murderer" was a character that was only mentioned in passing. The dialogue was pretty witty and although this wasn't stellar, it was still a pretty good book.
It was an enjoyable read. I liked all the characters and enjoyed getting to know them. The only thing I didn't like was that the killer was not a character we knew well. It was kind of disappointing. However, I will read the other books. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light mystery..
This book delivered exactly what the title and cover promised. It was an enjoyable read, well-written, with likable characters and a well-paced plot. I plan to read more of this series. The only comment I have is that in some of the future books, I hope the protagonist will rescue herself from her final predicament, rather than someone else rescuing her. That was a bit of a letdown for me. However, it’s a fun series and I will read more.
This is the first Kate Lawrence mystery that I've read. I enjoyed it, but do have a bone to pick with the author. The murderer did not actually appear until close to the end of the book, so there was no way that a reader could have attempted to predict the outcome. Clues were actually pretty close to non existent as well. I like to be able to look back and see how the clues led to the solution of the mystery, and I couldn't really do that with this book.
Still, I liked the characters, particularly Kate, her daughter Emma and her business partner. I enjoyed this story more for the relationships between the characters, than for the mystery.
The book is well edited and nicely formatted for .
Kate Lawrence # 2
Kate and Emma find the body of a much-disliked woman and wind up investigating because the main suspect asks for their help.
I picked up this book free during an giveaway. I'm enjoying this series even though whodunit was fairly obvious and there are a lot of unlikable characters. I thought it odd that Kate would accept Emma's help, since Emma's main concern seemed to be shielding someone else. But Ivie kept me reading and wondering what would happen next. As usual, the whole Armando storyline is irrelevant and boring. Spelling and grammar are mostly correct, although someone should have educated the proofreader that the country is Viet Nam, not View Nam. The title is relevant if not especially intriguing.
I really enjoyed this book, but it was a bit slow going for me for its length. it had what I would call some very long chapters for its length. I was able to get the first 5 books in this series for free back in 2012 when they were offered as some kind of promotion, I think to increase interest in the author. I'm only now getting to this series in my "to be read" list. I wish that this book had had chapter demarcations. Chapter demarcations make it so much easier to see how close you are to the end of a chapter or to find a stopping place when you need to do so. The characters just keep getting better and better. I like the type of people in this series quite a bit. The author is able to create very realistic characters in terms of personality and behavior. There are a few typos, but nothing too distracting and nothing that would take away from the plot and the story. If you liked the first book in the series, I say you should give this one a shot because I don't think you'll be disappointed. Have at it! I can't wait to read the next one.
